Ferrer hits ball into stands
One of the topics for discussion today has been the act by David Ferrer. The Spanish tennis player lobbed a ball into the stands during a match after he lost a point, while a baby was crying. The outpouring from this act has been tremendous. People are screaming for this guy’s head. While I don’t believe Ferrer was right to do this, was it really as bad as we are trying to make it? First off, you watch the video if you haven’t yet and then continue reading. Continue reading
2011 MLB Predictions
Tis the season, baseball season. We are now hours away from Opening Day. What’s the start of baseball season without some predictions. Now, none of us can predict the perfect season because you never know who is going land on the DL. One player on some of these teams could be the difference on how they finish. On paper, it would appear that the Red Sox have one of the better offensive lineups, while the Phillies may have the best rotation in the history of they game. Let’s be honest, when all five are healthy, they are loaded. So here we go, predictions for 2011. Continue reading
Nebraska-Omaha dropping sports, moving division
My initial reaction when the Omaha World Herald broke the story about UNO potentially dropping football and wrestling and moving to Division I was all negative. After taking some time to process the information, maybe it isn’t as bad of a move. Let’s be honest, most of the people saying this is a poor decision are people that love football and probably don’t follow UNO football in the first place. Continue reading
Quarterfinals complete in Sioux City, play resumes Monday

Morningside head coach, Jamie Sale, instructing his team in a timeout with 15 seconds remaining. Morningside held on for a 72-70 win.
The second session was similar to the first session today in Sioux City. One game got out of hand and one was tightly contested. In the third game of the day it was Northwestern (Iowa) all over Indiana Wesleyan, 79-58. Northwestern gained control over the game early and never looked back. The fast paced tempo was too much for the Wildcats. The Red Raiders were led by 17 points from Allison Hulst, while LeAnn Douglas led IWU with 14. Both teams struggled from the free-throw line as Northwestern was 13-24 (54%) and Indiana Wesleyan was 9-17 (52%). Indiana Wesleyan ends its season with a 29-6 record. The Red Raiders improve to 33-1 and will play Monday evening in the semifinals. Continue reading

Davenport University sweeps Cornerstone University in VSN NAIA Game of the Week
Separated by just 15 miles, Davenport University and Cornerstone University have certainly built a cross-town rivalry. Although in town, it is never easy to go into the other team’s facility and pick up a win. Both road team’s struggled in this one and both road team’s were higher rated. Neither game had a conference championship on the line, but both lower rated teams were looking for upsets to try and secure a spot in the respective NAIA National tournament. Continue reading
Top 10 Commercials of Super Bowl XLV
Each and every year one of the most talked about things from the Super Bowl are the commercials. There are always some commercials that make you laugh out loud, some that make you shake your head and others that leave you staring into the television wondering what just happened. Some people plan to watch the Super Bowl for the commercials alone.
I have put together a list of my top 10 commercials from this year, top five companies and some of the ugliest. The list is based on commercials that were played after kickoff and immediately following the game. While my opinion is factored into the list, it also includes input from Twitter and Facebook. P90X – Week 4 and 5
So I got lazy last week and failed to update the old blog and progress of P90X. I will combine both week’s in this edition. Week 4 was a recovery week so there was less lifting and more of the cardio-type workouts. Week 5 began phase two of the program. The schedule was the same as the previous phase, with the exception of one workout. It’s hard to believe, but I have almost made it to the halfway point of the program. Continue reading
P90X – Week 3
I decided it was time to get serious. Until this week I hadn’t been watching what I eat, though still working hard during the workouts. This week I named my “Get After It” week or “Fat Burner Week”. I decided in addition to the regular workouts that I have been doing I would add the cardio workout every morning. The alarm clock was ringing at 6 a.m. every day this week, except for Saturday. Continue reading
P90X – Week 2
I found it a lot more difficult to start the workout on Monday. I am someone who likes to try something new so week one was easy to get through because every workout I was doing was something new. Week two is a repeat of week one and when it came time to do the workout on Monday I sit and stared at the tv. Finally a half hour later I was into the workout and actually enjoying here. If you are reading this then you may have read week one. If not, you can read it here. Continue reading
P90X – Week 1
I have decided that one way to hold myself accountable for sticking with P90X is to try to keep up with a weekly blog. The goal of this section of my blog is to talk about my experience with the program, to track progress and to help motivate others if they are also trying it out. I hope you enjoy the read and if you would like to keep each other motivated then let me know. Continue reading

VSN Game of the Week Preview: MidAmerica Nazarene vs Sioux Falls

Pregame - 12:45 CT, Kickoff - 1:00 CT on VSN
The NAIA football season is coming to a close, quickly. With just two games on the docket this weekend, the ending light is beginning to beam through the end of the tunnel. Saturday evening two teams will be making plans to visit Rome, Georgia and play for a National Championship. It’s no real surprise the top four teams entering the postseason are the four teams still remaining. All four teams remain unbeaten heading into this weekend. Carroll will attempt to hold down an explosive Saint Xavier offense that is averaging 51 points per game. Sioux Falls has kept its three-peat hopes alive under first-year head coach, Jed Stugart.
